About Aloha ‘Āina Tree Service Inc.

Hilo mornings arrive soft: the bay flat as poured glass, the little bridge to Moku Ola catching first light, and Mauna Kea showing itself before the clouds decide otherwise. Aloha ‘Āina Tree Service Inc. keeps this town's big canopies in shape — the monkeypods that spread across a whole yard, the plumeria and mango that grow heavy in all this rain. Pruning is done with an eye on the tree's next ten feet rather than today's clearance, so a crown fills back in even and full. When one is too far gone, or standing too near a roof to save, it comes down in sections, rigged and lowered instead of dropped. And after the winter fronts that hammer the bayfront, driveways from Waiakea to Kaumana get opened up and raked, the limbs cut small and carried off.
