Past the last streetlight, Dooly County opens into rows — cotton, peanuts, pecan groves standing in their orderly lines — and the light goes wide and low toward evening. The Grass Company keeps Vienna's lawns in that same honest order: mowing on a rhythm, edging the drive, string trimming fence lines and post bases, hauling off clippings and fallen limbs.
