Lawn maintenance

About Lawn maintenance

The name on the truck is Lawn maintenance, which is a fair description of what October asks for around here. Water oaks and pecans drop for weeks along the Yatesville road, and a yard can vanish under them between one visit and the next. So the routine holds: mowing while the grass is still growing, leaves raked and hauled, beds cleared out, walks blown clean down to the concrete. It is repetitive on purpose — the whole idea is that a homeowner never has to think about any of it. When the last load leaves, the lawn underneath is still green, and that surprises people every single fall.
