February in Statesboro is the honest month: Bermuda gone tan and dormant, camellias still holding on, the Blue Mile running straight and bare from downtown toward the campus. It is the month for shaping — hedges cut back, crape myrtles left their proper form, beds edged and re-strawed while nothing is trying to grow through the work.
