Before the first ferry loads for Cumberland Island, Osborne Street is quiet all the way down to the water and the light comes up soft off the river. Addy's Lawn Care is out in that hour — mowing, edging, trimming and blowing down, getting yards squared away while St. Marys is still waking up. Beneath the live oaks a lawn grows in patches of sun and shade, and it takes patience to make the whole thing read evenly. Best of all is the last look back, moss shadows drifting across a freshly cut yard. From the old waterfront blocks out toward Kingsland, that is the round, and it is worth doing right.
