About lawns n logs

June evenings in Social Circle end with fireflies coming up out of the grass and the last mower shutting off near dusk. lawns n logs fills the day ahead of that — mowing, edging, string trimming, clearing brush and limbs, and hauling the pile away. Pines drop straw all year in this part of the Piedmont, so there is always something to gather and something to spread. The pleasure is in the before-and-after: a cluttered side yard turned back into ground a family can use. Then the light goes gold over the treeline and the tools go in the truck.
