November arrives politely in Smyrna and then quits all at once — the big oaks around Taylor-Brawner Park hold on for weeks, then let everything go in a single cold spell. Ember & Earth Landscaping is built for that stretch: tarps spread across front yards, blowers walking leaves into long windrows, the grass reappearing green underneath. The rest of the year is mowing, edging, and keeping shrubs in shape, but autumn is when the work shows most plainly. There is a particular pleasure in the last load going out and the lawn lying open to the low winter sun. By December the yards they keep look swept, and they stay that way.
