The Cutting Edge

About The Cutting Edge

Tybee's light station stands black and white over the north end, and on a clear morning you can pick out that stripe from streets away. The Cutting Edge works those mornings before the day heats — mowing, edging, string trimming and clearing walks so the borders come out as sharp as the tower's own paint line. Coastal grass grows most of the year here, fed on rain and salt wind, which means regular cuts rather than rescue missions. In the cool months the work turns to cleanups, cutting back, and clearing whatever the wind has left behind. The name is the standard: an edge you can follow with your eye.
