Pulaski is a crossroads in Candler County with fields on three sides and the Canoochee bottoms not far off, and in March the wind comes across all of it at once. RAD Land Services opens the year there, cutting back winter growth, clearing what blew in, bringing lots back into shape before the first real mow. Then the season turns and the schedule tightens, mowing, edging and trimming week after week through the long green middle of the year. Out here a lawn left alone for a month becomes a project, so the craft is keeping it from ever getting that far. The payoff is a place that looks minded from the road, whichever road you come in on.
