A Palmetto February leaves the bermuda straw-gold and sleeping, the whole town the color of a wheat field until the soil finally warms in April. Nature's Turf works to that calendar, because turf down here is a warm-season animal with its own opinions about when to move. Mowing height, edging, aeration to open up the compacted clay, overseeding where the shade has thinned things out — each one lands in its right window rather than whenever it is convenient. The payoff arrives in June, when a zoysia or bermuda lawn knits tight enough that you can see the mower stripes from the porch. Grass that dense does not happen by accident; it happens because somebody has been thinking a season ahead.
