Norcross grows a serious canopy, oaks and sweetgums leaning over old streets, the woods above the Chattahoochee at Simpsonwood dark green even at noon. Grass under that canopy has to be coaxed rather than commanded, and Atlanta Turf & Tree spends its days on that negotiation: turf in the light, roots in the shade, each wanting something different. Mowing and edging keep the shape, feeding and weed control keep the color, and a fall cleanup keeps leaves from smothering what took all summer to build. October is the reward, low gold light and a yard cut clean with the leaf litter hauled off the beds. It is unhurried work, and you notice it most on the days it hasn't been done.
