Toward the Ocmulgee the hardwoods turn late and hard, and Monticello gets a few weeks of copper light before the leaves all come down at once. Southern Scapes meets that stretch with mowing, edging, trimming and clearing away what falls, keeping yards open instead of buried. A last few good cuts before dormancy set a lawn up to come back even in spring. There is something plainly pleasing about a yard put right in November, walks swept, edges defined, everything lined up to the house. Then the year turns over, and they will be back when the green returns.
