That makes for a long, unhurried start to the mowing year — a first cut while the dogwoods are still out, then a rhythm that holds until the air turns in the fall. Mountain lots come with rock ledges, root flare and shade that moves by the hour, and each one wants its own approach. Done right, a yard here frames the view instead of competing with it: grass at an even height, beds edged back, the shoulder along the road trimmed so the mailbox is not lost in weeds.
