Fifteen Mile Creek runs its slow tea-colored line past Metter, and in March the whole of Candler County starts pushing green at once. Brad's Lawn & Garden meets that first surge with mowers, shears and a wheelbarrow of mulch, opening the beds up and giving the shrubs their shape for the year. The mowing settles into a weekly rhythm that carries deep into fall, with edging and trimming closing out every visit. Flower beds get weeded and bordered so the planting has somewhere clean to sit. There is a plain pleasure in seeing a garden and a lawn arrive at the same tidy line.
