The Yellow River wanders the length of Newton County — past pasture, past pine, past the backs of Covington neighborhoods — and it lends this outfit its name. Yellow River Landscaping mows and maintains along that run: town lots close in, and the wider places out toward Mansfield and Newborn where a mower gets room to open up. Winter here is short and brown, the bermuda dormant and the dogwoods bare, so the work turns to leaves, cleanup and the tidying that gets a yard ready to come back green. Then March arrives all at once and the mowing starts again, weekly, edges cut clean along every drive and walk. A river takes its time and still gets where it's going; a lawn looked after all year does about the same.
