The rail line still runs through the middle of Mansfield, and the town is only a few blocks deep on either side of it — front yards, side yards, long back lots that fade off into pasture. Parris Lawn Care mows that grid: even passes across the front, edging tight along walks and drives, trimmer work around the mailbox, the porch steps and the old fence posts. In November the whole place turns at once and the leaves have to be moved before winter rain packs them flat. Every hard surface gets blown clean before the truck pulls away. A small town notices, and that seems fair enough.
