In October the hawks ride the updraft along the brow of Lookout Mountain, and the hardwoods start letting go all at once. Howl Services, LLC works underneath all of that — mowing while the grass still wants cutting, then clearing leaves and debris off yards, walks and drives as the drop comes on. Autumn on the mountain is short and gorgeous and messy, and there is satisfaction in handing a place back tidy while the color is still in the trees. Come spring the job turns back to steady mowing, trimming and edging on the streets near Rock City and the roads out past Covenant College. Lookout Mountain, Rossville, Fort Oglethorpe and Chickamauga make up the regular rounds.
