The older streets close to downtown — Crogan, Perry, Pike — run past deep porches, big shade trees and lots small enough to do carefully. Rod's Lawn Care takes them one at a time on a morning route, mowing to an even height, trimming along fences and foundations, edging the sidewalk back to a clean line. Hedges get shaped, beds get weeded and mulched, and leaves come out of the corners once fall arrives. There is something good about a street where all the yards look tended. Lawrenceville wears that well.
