August in south Georgia gives the day back slowly: by six the heat has eased, the cicadas have taken over the live oaks, and the shadows across a yard finally stretch long enough to work in comfort. Soup's Lawn Service keeps its Kingsland route in that late light — mowing, edging along drives and walks, trimming out fence lines and around mailboxes, hauling off whatever the season has dropped. Grass here does not slow down for anybody, and neither does the schedule that answers it. There is pride in coming back week after week to the same yards and finding them expected, tended, familiar.
