Tara Boulevard carries the whole day through Jonesboro, and above it the jets come down toward Hartsfield in a slow steady line, one every couple of minutes, all afternoon. Underneath that traffic sit the yards southside lawns takes care of — front lawns on quiet cul-de-sacs, strips of grass behind fences, the kind of grass that grows fast in July and needs somebody who shows up. Mow, edge, trim, blow the walks, go. The work is unfussy and the result is not: straight stripes, a crisp line where turf meets concrete, nothing left in the gutter. Jonesboro is home base, with Riverdale, Forest Park, College Park and Conley all a short run up the road.
