The Central Savannah River Area sprawls across two states and a dozen small towns, and Grovetown sits right in the middle of it, halfway between the pine flats and the river. CSRA Ground Control takes the name literally: grass held to height, weeds kept out of the beds, edges cut so the lawn stops exactly where the concrete begins. Midday in July the heat comes up off a driveway in waves, and the trimming still gets finished before the blowers come out. Overgrown lots get brought back, fence lines get cleared, and a property starts to have a shape again. That first pass on a neglected lot is a before-and-after you can see from the road.
