Late in a Greensboro afternoon the brick storefronts on Main throw their shade clear across the sidewalk, and the crepe myrtles let go of their pink a little at a time. That is about when Clark's Lawn Care is finishing a street — mowing, trimming around mailbox posts and porch steps, edging the walk until the concrete reads white again, then clearing every clipping off the drive. None of it is loud, and all of it shows. A yard cut on schedule carries a household through the week without anyone having to think about it. Around here, that counts for plenty.
