Old Dixie Highway still runs its long line through Forest Park, and the houses set back from it have front yards that have watched a lot of traffic go by. There's a good moment near the end of a route when the sun drops behind the pines, the mower goes quiet, and the last cut of the day sits there looking exactly as intended. Edges are squared against the drive, the borders read straight from the sidewalk, and nothing is left for the homeowner to sweep.
