Some Ellijay driveways climb four switchbacks of gravel before a house comes into view, and the lawn at the top is a small clearing the mountain has agreed to lend. October fills the clearing overnight; getting the leaves back off the grass and gravel is half the month's work. Views up there run for miles on a clear day. A cut lawn framed by that much forest looks like an act of good manners toward the mountain.
