A Saturday in East Point announces itself by sound — a mower two streets over, a trimmer answering it, screen doors, somebody's radio drifting through the Semmes Park blocks. Yard Boyz Lawn Care Service LLC is part of that noise most weeks, moving lot to lot across the grid of narrow frontages and deep back gardens between the park and the main road. The work is plain and the plainness is the point: grass cut even, edges laid sharp along the sidewalk squares, the trimmer taken around fence posts and mailboxes, walks blown off before the trailer gate goes back up. In late spring everything grows at once here, and staying out in front of it takes a weekly rhythm more than anything else. By noon the block looks like people live there on purpose.
