Look east from a high spot in Decatur and Stone Mountain sits on the horizon, a gray dome of the same granite the old walls around here were built from. Root and Stone Yardworks LLC works in that material and in its opposite: stone walkways and low walls set level and tight, and the living side — beds cut in and mulched, roots given room, lawn mowed and edged around all of it. Clay this stiff wants a wall built with drainage in mind, so that is how they get built. A path set right stays set, winter after winter. Everything softer grows in around it until it looks like it was always there.
