Concord is a small town laid out along an old rail line, and on a Saturday around midday you can hear a mower from one end of it to the other. Mowerman's Lawn service is often that sound — cutting yards, church lots and the wide grassy shoulders where town edges back into farmland. Mow, trim the corners and the sign posts, edge the walk, then blow the whole thing clean so the clippings never reach the road. Autumn here browns the fields early while the yards stay green a while longer, and keeping that contrast sharp is a pleasure worth the dust. A little town looks after itself one cut lawn at a time, and somebody has to run the mower.
