By late November the Dodge County pines have let down a season's worth of straw, and it lies in drifts against the fence lines and porch steps around Chauncey. The off-season work is straw and leaves pulled off the turf, edges re-opened along drives and walks, the trimmer run through corners while nothing is growing to hide them.
