Up US 41 the county opens into hay fields and pine edge, and Adairsville catches the first white frost of the year before Cartersville ever does. That north-Bartow ground is what this crew knows: wide front yards, long ditch banks, mailbox posts that want a clean circle cut around them. Mowing, edging and string trimming run on a set weekly turn through spring and summer, with hedge shaping and leaf clearing once the oaks let go in November. The reward is the drive back down the highway at dusk, past a row of yards all cut the same direction, stripes laid parallel as fence rails. Grass moves fast up here in May, and somebody has to keep pace with it.
