On the gravel roads out past Ranger and Oakman the evenings come slow, the light goes gold across the hayfields, and a finished yard glows for about twenty minutes before dark. Landscaping by Lopez works right up to that hour — mowing, edging, trimming, bed shaping and mulch, and every clipping cleared off before the truck rolls. Late summer here asks a lot of a yard and a little more of the people keeping it. Hands, blades and attention: that has always been the entire toolkit. Calhoun and the county around it look better for it.
