Behind a good many Glynn County yards the ground stops being lawn and starts being palmetto, wax myrtle and whatever else took hold since last year. Carter Land Services works both sides of that line — mowing and edging the kept part, then knocking back the overgrowth, clearing brush, cutting tall grass on lots that got away, and hauling the debris out. Winters on this coast are short and mild, which makes the cool months the good ones for opening ground back up. Come spring the same property goes onto a regular cut. There is something plainly satisfying about standing in a place you can see across again.
