Come evening the frogs start up in the ditches and a little breeze works its way inland off the marsh. The Grass Guys are usually finishing the last yard of the route about then — mower loaded, trimmer cooling, one more Bloomingdale lawn cut and edged for the week. Recurring service is unglamorous and it is the entire point: the same yard, the same day, kept even all summer instead of rescued in August. Straight lines across a front lawn read as care from the sidewalk, no explanation needed. The route covers Bloomingdale and the neighboring towns west of Savannah.
