Late August in Bill Arp, everything green is pushing at once — kudzu leaning on the fence line, the pines dropping needles, a hawk turning slow circles over what used to be pasture while the interstate hums somewhere past the trees. Mr. Cant Stop keeps at it right through that surge, mowing, trimming back the borders where the woods try to move in, edging the walks, and hauling the clippings off. Grass does not take a week off in a Georgia September, so neither does the route. A yard held firm against all that growth is a quietly satisfying thing to hand back.
