By two o'clock in July the thunderheads are already stacking up west of town, and everybody in Five Points knows the yard work has to happen before they break. Prolawn Services plans around exactly that, with early starts and tight routes so the mowing and string trimming are finished while the sky still holds. Theirs is the weekly kind of work: cut, edge along the curb and driveway, trim around mailboxes and oak trunks, then blow the clippings back into the turf instead of the street. In the fall they haul the leaves away, and through the growing months they keep bermuda and fescue from ever looking shaggy. It is unglamorous, repeated labor, and a well-kept Athens block is the whole argument for it.
