West Pensacola sits between bayous, and the water shows up in the mornings — a soft haze off Bayou Chico, live oaks hung with Spanish moss holding it in place until the Gulf breeze clears the air. Sandy ground drains fast here, and the grass answers quickly once April warms; the growing season runs long, well past the point other places have quit. Mowing, edging, string trimming and yard cleanup are the steady rounds, through West Pensacola and out toward Warrington, Myrtle Grove, Brownsville and Bellview. A lawn kept on that schedule holds its color and its edges, and a moss-shaded yard under old oaks looks better for the discipline. Most of the craft is simply showing up while the light is still cool.
