North of 45th Street the city loosens up: wider lots, more sky, the Blue Heron Bridge lifting away toward the island and the salt coming in on the breeze. North County Lawn works that upper end of West Palm Beach and the towns just past it, mowing and edging yards where sand sits close under the sod and the wind keeps things trimmed on its own schedule. Bahia and St. Augustine both turn up out here, and each wants a different height and a different pass, which is the sort of thing a route learns over time. Trimmers get the fence lines, the blower clears the drive, and the lawn is left flat and squared to the walk. On a clear morning with the bridge traffic humming and a fresh cut behind you, this end of the county is a good place to work.
