Just A Man And A Mower

About Just A Man And A Mower

One man. One mower. A route through Timber Pines that starts early, because by mid-afternoon in summer the Gulf sends its storms inland and the day is over whether you are finished or not. Just A Man And A Mower runs the grass down even, edges the walks and the drive, trims the corners the deck cannot reach, and blows the sand and clippings off the concrete before moving on. Doing it alone means every lawn on the list is the same pair of hands and the same standard, and nothing gets handed off half-done. The pines shed, the sandy ground dries out between rains, the cool months slow things to a tidier pace — the work reads the year and adjusts. What is left behind each week is plain and good: a lawn cut clean and a yard you would not mind sitting in.
