Then the mowing season opens and does not really close, week after week of cutting, edging and trimming while the Gulf humidity pushes everything upward. Walks and drives get blown clean at the end of every visit, because a good cut ends at the pavement, not in the middle of it. Come the cooler, drier months the shaping and cleanup take over again. It is plain outdoor work, and there is pride in a yard that looks composed from the curb.
