Merv's Mower

About Merv's Mower

Sorrento sits in the gently rolling hills of east Lake County, once orange-grove country before the hard freezes of the 1980s, and its slopes still catch the winter sun in a way the flat coast never does. Merv's Mower works across those rises and dips, mowing hillside lawns evenly so no crest gets scalped and no hollow is left shaggy. In the cool, dry months the grass slows down, and the visits turn to tidying: trimming the edges, picking up fallen leaves, keeping the lawn neat until spring sets it growing again. At dusk in January, with the sky going lavender behind the hills, a freshly mowed Sorrento slope looks smooth as a tablecloth laid over the land.
