Ventura Tree & Lawn Service

About Ventura Tree & Lawn Service

A squall comes off the Gulf in the late afternoon, drums the pine flatwoods south of town for twenty minutes, then clears in time for the sun to drop orange behind the slash pines. Ventura Tree & Lawn Service works that country between Sarasota and Osprey, where live oaks hang low over the drives and lawns run in patches of shade and light. Mowing, edging and trimming under trees like these is its own problem — roots, shade, leaf litter — and it gets solved by hand at the corners. Litter and cuttings come off the concrete, and the turf underneath looks deliberate again. Under canopy this heavy, a lawn is never finished once; it is kept.
