About SAMUEL RESENDIZ

November thins the pecans and the sweetgums, and Quincy yards fill with leaves that no breeze is going to move on your behalf. Samuel Resendiz works those yards one at a time — mowing, edging, trimming and clearing leaves off the grass, the beds and the walks. It is quiet work: one truck, one trailer, and a straight line pushed across a yard until the whole of it sits level. The mild North Florida winter keeps grass asking for attention long after colder places have hung the mower up. Every job ends the same way, with the walk swept and the gate latched behind him.
