About Those Lawn Guys

Evening in Port St. Lucie brings walkers out around Lyngate Park, sprinklers ticking on, the day's heat finally letting go of the pavement. Those Lawn Guys spend the hours before that making the street worth the walk: mowing front to back, trimming every edge the mower leaves behind, squaring up hedges, sweeping the concrete clean. It is neighborhood work in the most literal sense — the same yards, the same faces, the same wave from the driveway each week. Grass here grows nine months hard and never fully stops, so the schedule is the craft. Nothing dramatic, just a block of lawns that all look looked-after at the same time.
