A Cut Above the Rest

About A Cut Above the Rest

Delaney Park keeps its live oaks low and wide, so the light that reaches a lawn there comes down in coins. A Cut Above the Rest works those shaded blocks south of downtown Orlando, where turf grows thin under canopy and thick out at the curb, and one pass has to suit both. The mow is set high through the humid stretch of the year, the trimmer takes the fence lines and the mailbox posts, and the sidewalk edge is opened cleanly rather than scalped. Shrubs get shaped back off the porch rails, and oak leaf and catkins get gathered instead of left to mat down on the grass. What carries down the street at the end of a run is the quiet, and a yard that looks like someone was paying attention.
