The Sodfather

About The Sodfather

Mims sits on sand, and sand asks something of a lawn: St. Augustine runners spread wide, then bake unless somebody holds them at a sensible height. The Sodfather mows to that height, edges the drives and walks, trims what the deck cannot reach, and sends the clippings off the concrete with the blower. Turf cut on a steady interval stays thick instead of shocked. In the deep of a Brevard summer the mower runs early, before the heat sets its weight down. There is genuine pleasure in stepping back from a yard that is finally uniform, green and squared to its edges.
