On the side streets off Calle Ocho the lots are small and the plantings are old — croton, hibiscus and ixora pressed up against low garden walls. Tropical Lawnmowers works these Little Havana yards the way they ask to be worked, with a compact pass of the mower and a careful edge where grass gives way to terrazzo and sidewalk. Trimmer work goes around every fence post, gate and post-light; hedges get brought back to shape without losing their fullness. At midday the sun comes straight down and the shade under one mango tree is the only cool on the block. Pavers are swept clear at the end, and a small yard ends up looking exactly kept.
