About JV Landscape Design LLC

The morning after a winter front, Coral Gables is briefly cool and impossibly clear, coral-rock walls holding the night's chill and the light coming sideways through the ficus. JV Landscape Design LLC likes to walk a property then, when you can see the bones of it — where the ground falls, where the shade sits at eight and where it will sit at four. A design here begins with what the rock allows: thin soil over oolite, plants chosen because they will actually thrive in it, beds cut with a curve that answers the shape of the house. Then comes the doing — grading, planting, sod laid tight seam to seam, borders edged so the whole composition holds its outline. Months later the plants have knit together and it stops looking designed at all, which is the point.
