About JD Boyd Tree and Lawn LLC

The live oaks along Coconut Grove's back lanes hold their limbs low and wide, and every June the question on the street is which of them will meet the season still standing. JD Boyd Tree and Lawn LLC does its climbing ahead of that — thinning a canopy so the wind has somewhere to pass, cutting deadwood out from over a driveway, bringing a leaning ficus down in pieces small enough for the truck bed. Then the crew comes back on the ordinary weeks for the mowing, the edging, the hedge line kept honest along the fence. It is satisfying work when it is done right: a tree that looks untouched but is lighter, and a lawn cut short enough to show the shape of the ground under it. The Grove keeps its shade, and the yards under that shade keep their order.
