Babylon Lawns

About Babylon Lawns

Down toward Palmetto Bay the land runs out into mangrove, and the wind off Biscayne Bay carries salt into everything it touches. Babylon Lawns works those lots on the water side — mowing, edging the drives, cutting back the sea grape and hedge growth that reaches for the walk, gathering the trimmings so nothing drifts toward the water. Afternoon light off the bay turns the grass almost silver, and a fresh cut catches every bit of it. In the wet months the growth is relentless and the schedule is the entire strategy. Come the dry season the yards hold their shape and the work turns to detail.
