The Landscape Repairman

About The Landscape Repairman

The wind off the Atlantic scours the ocean side of Melbourne Beach, and the yards nearest the dune line show it: thin patches, sand blown into the beds, sea grape leaning inland. The Landscape Repairman works those places back into shape, mowing what is there, clearing the beds, edging the walks and trimming out the corners that sand and salt have taken over. Barrier-island lawns need patience more than force, because the island gives ground back slowly. After a hard blow the cleanup becomes its own job, and it comes first. Standing at the end of an A1A driveway with the yard finally squared away and the surf loud behind the houses is a fine way to finish an afternoon.
