Simpson Works

About Simpson Works

After a blow comes up the Sound, Mary Esther wakes to a mess of its own trees: pine straw drifted against the porch, oak limbs across the drive, half the yard wearing the other half. Simpson Works shows up for that part, the loading and dragging and hauling nobody photographs, and works until the property looks like the wind never came. The rest of the year it is mowing, edging, trimming and overgrowth cutting on lots that get ahead of themselves in a hurry down here. Autumn is the honest season for it, cooler air, low sun through the pines, a trailer filling up by noon. The name says what the offer is, and an empty clean yard at the end of a long day says the rest.
